Fabulation is about Undine relearning how to live. It is a dark comedy that piles on shit until Undine begins to adapt to the shit. Significant moments in this play take place inside of Undine’s mind. It feels fluid yet turbulent like the east river. Therefore, the design will have a cool and hazy atmosphere, and it will move and change throughout the play while keeping a steady pace. It is important that the lights reflect Undine’s psychological state sometimes but also are not so abstract so they can help ground the audience in the scene.
